Bhutan 2013 : Golden Langurs (4)
Long considered as a local legend, the existence of those pale colored Langurs whose range is restricted to a small area of Bhutan and neighboring Assam in India was only confirmed in the second half of the 20th century, thanks to the work of British naturalist E.P. Gee.
Rare, considered Endangered by the IUCN, Golden Langurs are however relatively easy to see in the vicinity of Trongsa, especially a few kilometers down the road to Shemgang. That’s where i found a large group of at least 20 individuals feeding on a tree nearby the road, and i could snap a few shots before heading toward Bhumtang.
